Poems

I started to write poetry shortly after moving to London as an art student. My poetics sprang from a search for ways of understanding experience through words. as if they were sculptural material, without the controlling mediation associated with discursive language. This concern also drove my visual art and educational interests. The early writing is suffused with the rebelliousness of language poetry, notably through the long free-form line borrowed from Charlie Parker’s jazz, combined with Welsh englynion. The later love poems interweave the themes of experience and language in more elegiac mood.

This selection of poems changes from time to time.
